EU Long-Term Resident Permit for Foreigners – How to Apply

Positive Decision: If approved, the voivode (provincial governor) will issue a decision granting the long-term EU resident permit.

Negative Decision: If denied, the applicant has the right to appeal to the Head of the Office for Foreigners within 14 days of receiving the decision.

▬  Application Review Process  

To submit an application, the applicant must provide the following documents:

✓ Proof of identity and nationality (passport or other official document);

 Document confirming the right to a residential property (rental agreement or ownership deed);

 Employment contract (or other proof of stable income);

✓ Certificate of Polish language proficiency (not required for applicants under 16 years old);

 Recent photographs meeting official specifications.

▬  Who Can Apply for a Long-Term EU Resident Permit?  

A foreign national can submit an application if they meet the following criteria:

 Have resided in Poland for more than 5 years;

✓ Have been employed or running a business with a regular income for the last 2 years;

 Possess health insurance;

✓ Rent or own residential property in Poland.

▬  Formal Requirements for a Long-Term EU Resident Permit Application  

A long-term EU resident permit is a form of permanent residence. It can be granted to foreigners who do not have Polish relatives but have established Poland as their social and economic center and wish to settle there. Obtaining this permit offers numerous benefits, such as the right to legally work in Poland and the potential for a positive decision on Polish citizenship.

         

A long-term EU resident card must be renewed every five years.
